Artistic

Artistic gymnastics is a discipline where gymnasts train to perform short routines on various apparatus. Classes are divided by skill level as well as gender since male and female athletes do not train on the same equipment.

Male athletes train on:     Floor, Vault, Parallel Bars, Pommel Horse, Rings, High Bar

Female athletes train on:     Floor, Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam

Artistic gymnastics builds acute body awareness because almost every muscle in the body is used. Athletes also develop strength, balance and flexibility. Artistic gymnasts are among the strongest and most flexible of all athletes.

The artistic program progresses through colored levels beginning with Burgundy and progressing through Gold (see program at a glance). Each level builds on the previous levels, so we do not recommended that athletes skip levels. It is common for athletes to pass early levels quickly, but more challenging levels often take multiple years to pass. Once athletes have reached a Bronze level, we do recommend they train in the gym twice a week: once a week in artistic and once a week in T&T (either competitive or rec).

The artistic season will end with a finale allowing athletes the opportunity to perform the skills they have worked on all year. Please see our calendar for finale dates.

We do not offer a competitive artistic program due to the time commitment it requires. We do however offer a Competitive T&T program.
