F.A.S.T. Competitive

Cardston Gymnastics Club offers a Competitive Trampoline & Tumbling Program that athletes can begin in once they have handstands and cartwheels mastered (usually around 6 years old +). In Alberta, this program is called F.A.S.T. which stands for “Foundational Acrobatic & Strength Testing” Program.

Due to scheduling restraints, these classes are co-ed.

F.A.S.T. athletes develop skills in 4 main areas:

  1. Strength training
  2. Individual trampoline
  3. Double mini trampoline
  4. Power tumbling

There are three levels within the FAST Program and each of these have been designed to provide progressive skill development. Our club lists these classes as:

  • Competitive FAST 1/2
  • Competitive FAST 2/3
  • Competitive FAST 4/P

FAST athletes begin at Level 1 and progress to Level 3 as skills are achieved and mastered at which point the coaches will determine if the athlete is ready to move on to the Provincial Competitive Program.

The FAST program is designed to focus on both physical and technical preparation. In the second half of our season (January – March) we will host a meet in Cardston where athletes across the province come and compete. At these meets, participants are tested on their strength, speed and flexibility as well their mastery of specific T&T skills and drills on the various apparatus.

As a club we will also commit to attending 2 other meets outside of Cardston.
